The Monroes are facing a bleak Christmas. The holiday which they had planned to be their greatest celebration of all has been marred by job loss and economic downturn.

The prospects of any Christmas celebration at all are dim and Matt can’t see the prospect of buying his wife a Christmas present, much less the one she really wants.

Through a series of chance encounters with friends and strangers, Matt sees a path to a happier holiday.

From the Play

Every year, Matt Monroe and his wife have celebrated Christmas with excitement and holiday cheer. On their first foray into their annual shopping spree, they encounter Sam, a dog that Aggie falls in love with. This year, Matt has unexpectedly lost his job and sees dim prospects for any presents for this year. Nevertheless, he promises her the best Christmas ever.

How he will deliver is a problem he must solve before Chrismas Eve.

This gentle holiday story is told in Readers’ Theatre style with a narrator and characters stepping into and out of scenes. It is easily performed on a bare stage with minimal props and sounds.
